The Fountainhead

A poster for Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead. The book follows a young architect named Howard Roark, who believes in designing practically, rather than solely for aesthetics. He stands behind his vision and never falters even though he is rejected by much of society. It’s not just his style, he believes it is the only way, and it pains him to do it any other way. Roark is like granite: hard, angular, and unchanging. The same way Roark is shown breaking granite, society is trying to break him, and the only way he can be hurt is to give up his way of design.
